UCAN Care Centre gains prestigious quality mark from UK charity Macmillan.
The UCAN Care Centre at the ARI, which offers support to urological cancer patients and their families, has gained a prestigious quality mark from UK charity Macmillan.
The drop-in centre at Ward 209 in the pink zone at the hospital, which was formerly known as Ward 44, has received the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) accolade.
The UCAN Care Centre was officially opened in January 2008, following a fundraising campaign by urological cancer charity UCAN and assistance from the local construction industry.
Since then it has supported thousands of patients being treated for prostate, testicular, kidney and bladder cancer, and their families, providing guidance and advice on treatment options and practical solutions as well as a friendly face and a cup of tea.
